At Marden Cricket Club we have a beautiful ground for any lover of cricket. Adults and juniors alike can enjoy exceptional facilities for élite cricket as well as informal, ‘social’ games.

Marden Cricket Club has a long history with an early scorebook, now in Maidstone Museum, recording a match between Marden and Bearsted in 1789.

Since 2017 the home of Marden cricket has been the wonderful ground on the Maidstone Road – one of the finest grounds in the region. The wicket is manicured, the outfield fast and the view from the balcony spectacular.

This is a friendly, welcoming club where players can enjoy cricket at whatever level and frequency they choose.

Men's Cricket

The 1st XI play in the top division of the Kent County Village League. The 2nds are a squad of accomplished players and more ‘seasoned’ players, all with a love of the game and a sociable afternoon’s sport.

The Saints

The Saints

The Saints are a Sunday side featuring players of all ages and ability where everyone gets a chance to bowl and usually bat. There’s always a fun atmosphere and the aim is that cricket is always the real winner at these fixtures.

Development XI

Development XI

The Development squad is a successful nursery for younger players looking to move up into adult cricket. Team selection generally includes a couple of more experienced players to help guide and steer the younger players.

Junior Cricket

Regular coaching sessions are held throughout the summer, usually on Sunday mornings. They aim to encourage playing confidence and the development of each player. Age groups start with Under 7s (mixed). Boys squads are Under 9s, Under 11s, Under 13s and Under 16s.

Girls' Cricket

Girls' cricket

Marden has a thriving girls cricket scene with a successful squad starting to see really impressive results. We have around 30 girls who play in two squads Under 9/10 and Under 11/12 with coaching sessions on Sunday mornings. The girls have a great time and spirits are always high.

Under 11s: 09.45-11.15
Under 13s & Under 15s: 11.30-1pm

Under 18s: training with Men’s team on Wednesday evenings

Cricket FAQs

A common dilemma. The club has some bats/pads of variable quality to borrow in the short-term. Balls are provided. Whites are generally required for matches – you’ll find out more by coming along to nets and having a chat.
Nets are usually Wednesday evenings from 6pm, starting in mid-April (depending on the weather). The Saints traditionally have a Sunday late afternoon net as well.

The Saints was formed some years ago as an informal village team, primarily made up of church goers. The sole fixture was against the Sinners, a team from the local pub. The lines became blurred but it was always in a good local cause with funds raised for various charities.

Today the Saints have a home at the club, enjoying the wonderful ground and providing an opportunity for anyone to enjoy an afternoon’s social cricket. The programme features local village fixtures and, of course, the popular Saints v Sinners clash!

Games are played in relaxed spirit with no pressure and no expectation (frankly, no skill either). It’s just good fun for young and old players so come along to a net and join in.

You must be a cricket member to use the nets. Parents of junior cricket members can use the nets with their children.
