Padel

We now offer 2 padel courts, uncovered, illuminated and overlooked by the clubhouse viewing balcony. The arrival of padel aligns brilliantly with our commitment to developing a vibrant sports community at grass roots level.

Padel is a fast growing sport that appeals to all ages and abilities. Easy to play and easy to learn, it’s a fusion of squash and tennis, played on an enclosed court with 4 players using solid bats rather than strung rackets. The glass walls can be used for play (like squash) and rallies are often much longer than tennis. Strategy and placement is often more important than athleticism and power so physical ability does not guarantee victory!

Membership Update

We’re currently reviewing the Gold / Silver / Bronze membership structure (and associated charging, both for subscriptions to the Gold level, and court pricing more generally). We plan to provide updates as soon as possible.

For now, all gold members are to be moved on to a fixed renewal cycle, with annual subscriptions applying from 1st May each year. This means that in future everyone’s subscription will come up for renewal on that date. In the meantime, existing and any new members will pay a pro-rata charge as and when their personal renewal date comes up, up to the end of April 2026.

If you have any questions relating to Padel Section membership, please contact Tom Rawstorne at padelmembershipmsc@gmail.com

Suitable attire and footwear is imperative. Padel bats can be hired from the clubhouse for a modest fee and padel balls can be purchased. We plan to stock a few bats for purchase.

No. Padel balls are of similar size and weight to tennis balls but are of lower pressure.

The game is intended for doubles, due to the smaller size court (relative to tennis) and higher speed of the game. It’s very hard to cover the court when playing singles.
